Last week, upon my arrival to Paris, I was ushered into a chauffeured Rolls limo and handed a glass of Veuve Clicquot along with a big lacquered Chanel shopping bag overflowing with shoe boxes by no other than Linda Fargo, Bergdorf Goodman’s director of women’s fashion.
I already had a champagne buzz from the flight and would soon be even more intoxicated from viewing the talent at the most coveted runway shows. Junya Watanabe, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton and Chanel were some of the tickets I scored with front row access. My celebrity status entitled me to enforce a strict ‘No Kardashian-Tribe’ policy at all the shows.
CRAP! My annoying yapping Chihuahua, Mirdle, woke me up from my reverie, shocking me to reality. I was still in NY. But I love Paris, I want to be in Paris. So, how can I experience some Parisian “joie” while viewing the runway collections for Spring 2017?
Bien sûr! I remembered that a new artisanal dessert bar recently opened in my nabe. I would head there to find some Parisian “je ne sais quoi” without having to leave New York. That’s what I call a chic staycation.
For years, my friends and I have craved a local charming cafe with character, wonderful coffee and homemade edibles. No to a multinational conglomerate selling burnt coffee and flavorless, deflated croissant sandwiches.
So when Bella Sophia Sugar Crafts opened a few months ago, we almost broke the internet oversharing our enthusiasm.
As I inhaled a plate of pastries and a liter of cappuccino, I was transported to Paris viewing some of the runway shows on my laptop.
Here are some of my favorite shows and as lip smacking as my plate of sweets.
A vivid day dream sprinkled with an unwavering imagination is all you need to arrange a Paris on-the-cheap vacation. Just because I can’t afford to get there shouldn’t hinder me from creating my own fantasy, by way of a beautiful, belle and magnifique cafe, savories and a laptop. Now that’s truly Joie de Vivre!
